Sonar

Sonar is community intelligence software that watches social media to find where the fans of games like yours are hanging out, what they care about, and how to reach them before launch.

What Sonar does

Sonar ingests data from 8 platforms: Reddit, Twitter/X, YouTube, TikTok, Threads, Facebook, Pinterest, and Bluesky. It uses AI to classify posts, identify fan communities, and surface patterns useful for marketing.

The core use case: pre-launch audience seeding. You tell Sonar what comp titles are closest to your game. Sonar finds where those fan communities live (subreddits, Discord servers, YouTube channels, etc.), measures the size and health of each community, and helps you seed marketing to the right audiences at the right time.

What you get

When you run a Sonar analysis on your game, you get:

  • Audience breakdown - how many fans per platform, where they’re concentrated
  • Sentiment and engagement - what people are saying about your comps, how engaged the communities are
  • Key creators - the YouTube creators, streamers, and community leaders in your comp spaces
  • Risk flags - dormant accounts, sentiment shifts, or cooling interest you should know about
  • Comp suggestions - games with audience overlap to your title
  • Design signals - what motivates your target players based on what they’re talking about

All of this rolls up into seeding recommendations: which communities to target, what platforms matter most, and what tone and message resonates.

How to use Sonar

Start at sonar.hypercade.io. Log in with your email (we send you a one-time code). Create a new analysis by telling us your game’s name and which 2-3 existing games are the closest comps.

Sonar runs the analysis in the background. Within a few hours, you’ll get a full intelligence report.

See Using Sonar for a walkthrough of the interface and how to read each section of the report.

For a deeper dive into how the analysis works, see Audience Intelligence.
